West Division President - McDonald’s USA
Steve Plotkin is the President of McDonald's USA’s West Division. He is responsible for nearly 4,300 restaurants and 647 franchisees in the western United States, covering six geographic regions in 16 states, including Hawaii. As the West Division President, he is accountable for approximately $9 billion in annual sales.
Mr. Plotkin began his career with McDonald’s in 1969 as a crew person in Milwaukee. He went on to hold various managerial positions, including restaurant manager in the Milwaukee market. From there, Mr. Plotkin was promoted through the regional ranks, serving as area supervisor, field consultant, senior training consultant, operations manager and vice president and general manager of three regions; Norfolk, Tampa and the Great Southern Region, located in New Orleans.
In addition to his many field operations roles, Mr. Plotkin spent four years at McDonald’s worldwide headquarters in Oak Brook, IL, where he served as director of product development.
Mr. Plotkin has been recognized with many awards throughout his McDonald's career, including the Development Team of the Year Award in 2002 and the NBMOA Excellence Award from the National Black McDonald’s Operators Association in 2000.
Mr. Plotkin considers his greatest accomplishment the ability to give others the opportunity to learn and grow within the company. Noted across the system for his passion to develop a “people pump,” Mr. Plotkin has been responsible for promoting countless individuals to roles within the West, the other two divisions and in the other areas of the world.
Having been “brought up” through the system from crew to division president, Mr. Plotkin believes strongly that his greatest legacy will be the people he develops to take the McDonald’s business to even greater heights.
Mr. Plotkin lives in Scottsdale, Arizona. His hobbies include golf and playing the guitar.
