Pete was elected Chief Administrative Officer of McDonald’s Corporation on March 1, 2015 and is currently responsible for oversight of the following global departments that support company operations: Finance, Supply Chain & Sustainability, Restaurant Development, Franchising, Information Technology, Restaurant Solutions Group, Corporate Strategy, Security, and Global Inclusion, Community Engagement & Philanthropy.
Prior to that, he was Senior Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer from May 2014 to February 2015, and before that, he was Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, a position he held since January, 2008.
Mr. Bensen joined McDonald’s in 1996 as Director of Financial Accounting & Reporting and subsequently held positions of increasing responsibility. He served as Vice President and Assistant Controller from February, 2002 to March, 2007. In April, 2007, Pete was appointed Senior Vice President & Corporate Controller. Prior to joining McDonald’s, Pete was a senior manager for Ernst & Young in Chicago, where he served large multi-national audit clients. He also had assignments in the Mergers & Acquisitions Practice and Midwest Region Accounting & Auditing Group.
Mr. Bensen is a graduate of St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He is a Director of Catamaran Corporation and a Trustee of the John G. Shedd Aquarium. In November 2011, Financial Executives International’s Chicago Chapter awarded Pete the honor of CFO of the Year for Large Public Companies at their inaugural event.
Pete and his wife, Beth, reside in Downers Grove, Illinois with their three boys. He enjoys golfing, listening to music and spending time with his family.
