Atif Rafiq is Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Officer of McDonald's Corporation. He is responsible for McDonald’s cohesive and holistic global digital strategy – bringing an entirely new level of convenience and fun to our customers through innovative digital experience and engagement.
Rafiq has held managerial roles at a number of public Internet and software companies including Amazon, Yahoo! and AOL. He also founded or advised more than 10 start-ups.
Rafiq was previously the GM of Kindle Direct Publishing at Amazon.com, with global responsibility for the division across product management, program management, marketing, author relations and business metrics. While at Amazon, he also led the creation of two start-up businesses with responsibility for engineering, product management, community management and marketing.
Before Amazon, he served in a number of leadership capacities for Yahoo!, including head of Global Product Marketing/Strategy for Yahoo! News and GM for Yahoo! Local.
In 2000, Rafiq founded Covigna, Inc., which offers software to help enterprises optimize content management practices for their negotiated agreements, contract information and business documentation. He served as Chief Executive Officer until 2005.
He began his career on the web in 1996 as a founding member of the Business Development and Corporate Strategy team at AOL. Prior to that, he worked at Goldman Sachs, advising corporations on merger, acquisition and IPO activity.
Rafiq holds a BA in Mathematics-Economics from Wesleyan University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
